Testimonial of Guttural Pouch Infection
Wanted to send a story about my experience with guttural pouch
infection. Three years ago my TWH gelding Star started to have several
symptoms with nasal problem...smell from nostril..heavy breathing,
runny nostril & even showed some blood dripping at times when worked.
I originally had my local vet treat it with penicillin as we thought
it was a cold at first. After a month or so of no improvement I took
him to the vet clinic & he was diagnosed with Guttural pouch
infection. He was there a week & they did flushings etc & monitoring & injections & medications
to try to control & cure the infection. He
seemed to be a bit better after a week. Took him home & within a
couple weeks it was back just as bad. Took him again to the vet clinic and
they flushed it again, treated & sent
him home. After I received the
HUGE bill from the vet clinic I realized I could no longer afford to treat
him
at that level. The infection was not cured & returned within days. In
desperation, and after doing some research, I contacted Naturally
Yours & had Sharon do a "reading" and send me out what she thought
would help build his immune system & cleanse his system as well. It
was a slow process...but it finally DID cure him after a few months.
He is perfectly healthy now & has never had a reoccurrence. Sharon's
herbs saved his life. The probiotics, milk thistle, echinacia and
other things I added to his diet, such as milled flax and his Hoffman
minerals. This horse is the picture of health now, has a beautiful
sheen to his coat, better than my other horses too..and he can go on
trail etc & has no ill effects from having the infection. The time
since I first noticed symptoms to his cure was over a year, a very
nerve racking year for me. I knew how serious it could be & the only
other recourse was to take him to Saskatoon & have a procedure of
"good flora" implanted into his pouch from a donor there at the
University. I spent over $2000.00 & knew that was out of the
question for me at the time. I can't say enough for looking at a
disease in a holistic light & letting the horse heal by making them
healthier naturally. The penicillin was actually killing his good
bacteria and once it was entirely out of his system, his body started
to be able to do the work to rid itself of the infection with good
natural products. So, there is hope for horses with this and other "incurable" diseases
that some would think are a death sentence. Star
is proof of that! "
