He's back! After 9 years of illness, Soks (Sokrates), my 13 year old gelding is rideable. No more coughs and wheezes, no heave line, no allergic reation to his vaccinations this year, and no more pain! Bright, alert and a general all round imp. It's like a miracle. Thanks to Sharon, he is a happy, healthy horse today.
Soks' life has been plagued with illness and injury. His major problems have included sarcoids at 2 years; a torn tendon at 4 1/2 years; severe alergies with more or less continuous wheezing and hives for the next 5 years; and hyprthyroidism diagnosed at 8 years. The final blow came in the spring of 1999 when he started to stumble and fall down and I was told he had "shaking head syndrome" - an allergy to sunlight! Conventional treatment with horse sunglasses and antihistamines did little to improve his balance. The cause of the problem is unknown and often makes the horse unrideable - a situation that was well known to us and one we had struggled with for most of Soks' life! Treatment with acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments over a period of two years in 1998-99 helped to improve his balance and relieved some of his pain, and allowed him to hold his front feet forward for rasping by the farrier for the first time in over 5 years.
By chance one day, I saw and ad in Horse Country for magnetic brow bands. They were available from a company called Naturally Yours. I thought magnets might help Soks' balance. I even dared to hope that he might again someday be able to be ridden. I called Sharon. We talked for what must have been an hour! She told me he had "liver stagnation". In fact, she said I did too! Together with the low carbohydrate diet (rice bran - no grain) diet the vet had suggested and Sharon's herbs, the Soks I knew as a 4 year old is back! And so am I.
Sharon is a real life 'medical intuitive'. In fact, to this day she has never met Soks. Sharon's psychic sense together with her knowledge of Chinese medicine has made us both very happy. We continue to seek her advice.
